mgx dxr mongoose
I have been given a MGX DXR for free and was going to put it back together since the kid that owned it disassembled it. But I have run into a problem. The front wheel doesnt have a conventional axle. All I see is two small threaded stubs sticking out of both side not like a normal bike. Does something screw onto this like a quick change deal or something? any help would be greatly appreciated. and can I replace this deal with a regular axle?

Im pretty sure what you need is a quick release skewer. it is a long bolts with threads on one end and a handle that moves up and down on the other it is a type of quick change deal.

My wife bought on of those at walmart and returned it because it was painfull to ride. The front whell on these bikes does not have a quick release skwere, just a good, old fashioned threaded axle. Put the threaded axle in the fork and tighten with 9/16" nuts. Don't overtighten them.

I got one of the MGX DXR for a gift, I had the same problem with it being painful. The seat was the problem it is not made for a woman. I bought a diffrent seat I love it !

Hey all I just got a mgx dxr also.I must say its the best bike I have ever had.I'am so geeked I thought I would share.hubby got a XR100 mongoose. Anyone know anything about this one? Thanks

- Mongoose XR-100
Tony I have no idea about anything on the front wheel.I have never even seen a bike without an axel.You should either get you a brand new Mongoose or find a 26" or 24" axel or a rim somewhere.It's hard to find those parts so I suggest you get a new bike.Mongoose XR-100 and XR-150s are better than the MGX DXR bikes.
