 preventive maintenance for water
Dear all:
I am having a blast finding cool trails to ride. I found a trail with stream crossings where the bike gets pretty wet. What steps should I take before and after the ride? I don't want my parts to rust on me.

thx.

lube the chain and clipless pedal mechanisims with white lightning after any really wet ride. after a normal wet ride, this is all you should have to do, the grease in the hubs etc will survive. i use the WL but others prefer krytech.

NOTE: if you have a half decent bike- dont even think about WD 40 (not kind to bike grease).

Cool WL is what i have been using. Also I use silcone spray for the frog clipless. Never use WD40 for bike.

      thx.

Buy a chain cleaner. If you can double the life of one chain by keeping it cleaned and lubed you will have paid for the tool. Riding up here in the northwest you could go through two or three chains in one winter if they're not maintained properly.
