 Shore Brah!
The Cartel (Dusty, Mac, Wadsworth and myself) made their yearly pilgrimage to BC this past weekend for some totally gnar Shore riding in North Vancouver and Whistler. This was my first time tagging along, and I gotta say, it was pretty fun stuff. Generally the weather sucked with wet conditions, whether it was raining or not, as the tree canopy kept everything very moist and slick as frickin' ice! But making the best of it....which amounted to many rear wheels skating off skinnies....depositing riders on their backsides. Dusty has some shots he will add later and Wadsworth has some Keystone Cop helmet cam footage that is stuff of legend. For now, here are some of my blurry (no light) shots:

Dusty Bottoms pondering a slippery left turn...

Macrider doing the same:

Wadsworth McStackton looking like he's doing Mach 5:

Dusty balancing himself for the runout:

Wadsworth moving carefully down a skinny:

Macrider at Whistler....keeping it steady over this wet roller:

Dusty from a different angle. Hey, we're going streaking into the Quad...bring your red fender!

Wadsworth picking a different line to the right y'all:

Yours truly finding a third line for the sake of drawing attention:

Wadsworth negotiating a tough little drop with virtually no landing area that ran out into a steep rock garden. He lost the negotiation:

Mac "planing out" after smoovin' this 5 footer:

Dusty, headless, follows without fear (probably because he has no head):

Macrider gettin' his balance on:

I'll leave the stories of my ballooned sprained ankle (which I rode on) for the others to tell.............great trip guys; count me in for next year!

El Norcal Brah, you were missed - but MAN is that place different when they are not in the middle of a drought! We finally got to discover WHY they build all these trails up off the dirt...and get schooled.....such an insanely tough place in those conditions..."all rear brake here through the muddy root & rock section or it's over the bars.....and onto the ladder/log DON'T touch the rear brake even a LITTLE...." - on and on and on, the Cartel don't stop 'till the break of dawn...

hitting A-line and dirt merchant and airing it out with baby-sh*t mud for a landing area was new and exciting too....

Great trip and happy b-day Dusty, you old geezer - "don't touch the Peeler under any circumstances!"!

My shoulder hurts looking at those pictures / all the wood stunts that seem to go on for days. Looks pretty hard to do.

Please post more pictures and tell more stories. Who ate sht? How did the 2.4 pannies work in the wet weather? Did you do that helicopter drop? Did you go on the freeride tour or do you know your way around now, since you ride there allllllll the time...

Macrider - did you look for real estate up there? :)

Glad to hear everyone made it back ok. Cant wait to see the video.

Hefty Portions has finally uploaded his photos (including his fay "burst mode" shots)....here they be:

Wadsworth McStackton aces a steep roller:

    OPP gettin' his skinny-to-huck on:

    Wadsworth follows:

The last shot of my ankle before jerkification as I turned this corner and launched a 5-foot (or shall I say one-footed) huck:

    Wadsworth follows with focus:

The huck at the end (not pictured: OPP wailing in canklish pain):

    Wadsworth makin' stunts look easy:

    OPP follows "acid test: style:

    Macrider in fine multi-shot style:

Yours truly on the roller coaster.....I managed to smash my knee on the bars on the "up" portion:

    Macrider.......low.....ride.....er.....

The softer, gentler side of the Cartel at Whistler:

We picked up some jerky for the drive:

Man, this is damn good jerky:

Lag, to answer some of your questions:
We totally know our way around BC now. Mac is thinking of starting his own "Shore" Tour company.
No heli drops, only Whistler, Fromme and Seymour were ridden. The stunts on all mountains were slick as snot. You tap the rear(break) and you go sliding off the stunt in a heartbeat.
OPP's grankle-jerky caused much pain for my man, but he still charged. I'm awaiting some test results on my back and neck after headbutting a rock garden.
The past two years have been bone dry conditions in N. Vancouver making most of the stunts ridable. The rain added a huge variable that none of us expected. It made the riding very tough and put a major beating on all of us. Although, all agreed the riding was still great fun.

Thanks for posting Boozy Bottoms' pics.

Ouch, that ankle looks broken. Wadsworth, did you take ANOTHER header with your helmet cam running? Didn't you fall face first with your helmet cam running recently?

It also looks like you all gained weight, what happened?

TEP - my advice for the you would be (if possible) - ride Whistler first, as you can really get an education on this stuff there - especially trying stuff like Clown Shoes & Schleyer/Joyride & the Garbanzo trails at Whistler - it's good to learn in a fairly safe place with perfect runouts etc. -learn ladders, skinnies, STEEP granite rollers, root-strewn wet trails - after that, hit the Mt Seymore on the North Shore (shuttle-able) - do CBC (pretty much mandatory from the top parking area) - a few times to get more edumacation - safe skinnies, many nice and wide will teach you needed skills - from CBC, hit Corkscrew to Pingu to Team Pangor (print map from Gutsploder.com and laminate it - put in pack[s]) - these are good tough Shore trails - with intermediate lines around most if not all the tough stuff...also on Seymore I'd recommend a CBC to Ned's Atomic Dustbin - if you want to up the ante quite a bit - try CBC to Boogeyman - the lower section of Boogeyman is one of the more hairball "trails" I've been on - a granite cliff with trees growing out of the cracks/ledges that you ride (or walk with a whimper) down...

Mt Fromme is straight up gnar - plus you have to ride for at least an hour up to the start (Upper Oil Can being the usual starting trail) - many if not most trails on Fromme are sick and punnishing - especially true if it's raining - and don't be fooled by clever names like "Ladies Only" or "Pink Starfish" - these trails are WAY up there on the sickness scale - but well worth hitting -especially if you've worked on skillz at Whistler & Seymore

and if it's all wet, God help you, don't touch your rear brake...

We'll all remember you from the Canadian Beer shot as the "before" version to compare with what remains of your snaggletoothed visage should you accomplish the aforementioned full-face-plant without the aid of Mr. Shoei.
