Does this stuff really work... and where do you buy it (drug store?)

Yeah, it does work, but it's best if used to wash down right after a ride. Use cold/cool water. It's spelled Tecnu, and can be found at most drug stores, and at many grocery stores in the section where you'll find Cortaid, Caladryl etc...

I get poison oak bad if I even look at it now. Tecnu has become a staple in my camel bak and I wash down with tecnu soaked baby wipes after a ride where there's PO. Since I started doing that, no PO.
    Drug Stores sell it

Oh wait, I'm sorry DC, I forgot to post something lame and off-topic. I'll get right on it. ;-)

BTW- Tecnu works best for preventing a PO break-out. If you already have PO, get Zanfel. Only certain drug stores carry Zanfel, and it's much more expensive than the few bucks you'd spend on Tecnu, but if you're all blistered up, it's $32 well spent.

works pretty well - for removing oils from the skin fairly quickly following exposure - the problem with po is that the oil is absorbed with 10-15 minutes on the skin - technu can lesson the severity of outbreaks by removing the oil from the skin - drug store yes for technu - better is Zanfel - expensive, but at the first signs of po outbreaks, if you use it as directed it REALLY helps...Zanfel is available over the counter -their website has a directory for finding a drug store that carries it...http://www.zanfel.com/qa.htm

I am super-sensitive to p.o. and Tecnu works on me. Scrub down on dry skin, wash off with cold water. It comes in a small bottle but doesn't take much. I got mine at Sav-On--the store of suburbia....

Seems to work nicely. Lately I have been applying weekly doses upon finishing rides in the San Gabes. For full-on outbreaks, I have some Rx topical steroid cream.

Tecnu is relatively cheap prevention. My fiancee and I have found that you need to use it early. Others will recommend Zanfel, but it hasn't worked for anyone I know.

That's great. Hasn't worked for me, my fiancee and two friends I hike with (all the people I know that have tried it). Maybe SB PO is just different.

Make that: Hasn't worked for my fiancee, two friends I hike with or me (all the people I know that have tried it). Maybe SB PO is just different. YMMV of course.

Been doing some off-trail exploring in Tecolote? I don't recommend it, even for the totally downhilling trails there.

Nope. Doing some riding out of town this weekend which will probably expose me to P.O. and be followed by a long drive home. If I'm exposed to P.O., I usually shower immediately after the ride and use dish soap (which works great, BTW!) instead of bar soap... but I won't be able to do that this weekend, so I'm looking for alternatives. Tecnu it is!

Also supposedly works well for removing radioactive
    contamination/fallout, it's original intended purpose.
