Where did the hot girl manager go? I liked her. This shop is great with her in it.|
Eric a 19 year old
I would like to come to the defense of this great shop. Mr. Bill Scrimpsher, you are a fool, and a fabricator. There is no person named Jeff currently employed at this shop. Is your life so dull that you have to write fake messages about peolpe who do not exist? I feel truely sorry for you. The truth is that this is one of the most professional shops I have had the pleasure to do buisness with. The employees really care about their clients. As a matter of fact, I have never received better service anywhere! I would reccomend this shop to everyone.
Ryan a 21 year old Downhiller, riding a santa cruz v 10,
After purchasing several parts to recondition
my old Schwinn cruiser, I remembered that I
still needed rim strips. I called and spoke with
an "Attitude Champion" named Jeff; I asked
him about the rim strips, explaining that i
needed strips appropriate for a 26" x 2.125" x
72 spoke cruiser wheel, and he replied
something like, "Oh, OK, I'll see what we
got......" After several minutes wait, he returned
and said that they carry Velux strips; I asked if
that was correct for the wheel I'd described,
and asked pricing; he said, "Oh, all right, I'll
go check. After at least 5 minutes, Jeff
returned to say,"Wow, they cost all of about a
buck, dude!...... Before I could ask store hours,
Jeff signed off (as in, hung up on me) saying,
"OK, Bubba, you got it!" One very rude,
smart-ass, attitudinal dude who's definitely
losing business for this small shop that
needs ALL the business it can get, especially
in this (2004) economy!
Bill Scrimpsher a 63 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a Cruiser,
I went to the shop with my children and was impressed with the help I received. The manager Nicole helped us find 2 bikes, 2 helmets (which she took the time to fit properly) and some flat tire prevention pack they have there. I am very happy with the treatment we were given. This is a great family bike shop.
This shop is the cleanest I have ever seen. There are new faces in the store to help and it is much better. Everyone who works there is helpful and knowledgeable. I bought 2 bikes and accessories for them, and now I recommend them to everyone I know. Thanks for being a great bike shop.
Bill a 44 year old Weekend Warrior,
I would like to say the shop would be great, except for the
owner Dave. If you see him, run. I have seen him fall on
the floor because another customer decided not to buy a
bike from him. Imagine the worst car salesman, there you
go, that is Dave Hanson. I bought a kids bike from him
years ago. I paid extra for parts that should have come
with the bike for free, such as pads and training wheels. I
went back only because I thought he was not involved
anymore. I was wrong. Leave the buisness Dave.

would the store employee with Caps Lock on please stop posting here- thanks.
The management has changed.....for the worse. The owner Dave is hanging around and wants to charge for just looking at your bike. I spent a ton of money at this store in the past couple of years to the tune of a few thousand dollars. That won't be happening any longer. This guy is insulting the way he does things.....I wouldn't go there again if it was the last bike shop in O.C.
This Store SUCKS BIG TIME!!! I walked in to buy a bike for my kid in the $300.00 price range and the commission driven "village idiot" tried to pressure me into a $1500.00 bike. I ended up doing business with their competition who treated me well and will get all of my future business.
WHEN I FIRST WALKED INTO "THE NEW JAX" I WAS GREETED BY A TUBBY KID. HE WAS NICE, BUT WHEN I ASKED HIM ABOUT THE LINKAGE ON THE SANTA CRUZ BULLIT HE LOOKED AT ME LIKE A "DEER IN HEAD LIGHTS". I COULDNT GET ANY ANSWER FROM THE KID!! BUT BRENT CAME ALONG AND HELPED ME WITH PURCHASE ON MY NEW BIKE. THANKS BRENT

LIMITED) I WOULD,HAVE,AND WILL RECOMMEND THIS SHOP

I have been going to this store since the management change. Brent and Will are great guys to work with and the Wrenching is the best in
So. CAl. I can add that Brent has built wheels for me and his an expert at this trade. If you had a bad experience with the prior management...I urge you to give these guys a chance to make up for it...you won't be sorry.
Chris Pomidoro a Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a Four Banger,
I WENT INTO THE OLD VILLAGE BIKE SHOP WHICH IS NOW A JAX, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME. I WAS HAPPILY SUPRISED. THE STAFF IS VERY INFORMATIVE, PARTLY BECAUSE THEY ALL SEEM TO RIDE. MOST SHOPS SEEM TO BE FULL OF KNOW NOTHING KIDS. WHICH IS GREAT IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. FOR MYSELF I KNEW I WANTED A HIGH END ROAD BIKE LIKE MY FRIENDS, BUT THATS ABOUT IT. THE SALESMAN I TALKED TO ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME TO LISTEN TO ME, AND SEE WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, INSTEAD OF JAMMING A BIKE DOWN MY THROAT THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO GET RID OF, LIKE THEY USED TO DO WHEN IT WAS VILLAGE. IN SHORT I HAD A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE AND WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS TO STOP BY. WELL IM OFF TO RIDE MY NEW 5200.
RONALD LOMELLI a 35 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a TREK 5200 ,
MOST PEOPLE KNOW THIS IS A JAX BIKE CENTER NOW. A NEW STAFF, NEW MANAGEMENT AND A REMODEL
HAVE MADE THIS MY FAVORITE STORE. THEIR PRICING IS GREAT AND THEY WILL WORK WITH YOU. THE WRENCHING IS THE BEST IN O.C. AND THE SELECTION IS GOOD. WHAT A NICE CHANGE FROM THE OLD STORE. THEY WILL TAKE YOU ON SOME COOL RIDES ALSO.
JACK BERNARD a 27 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a TREK 8000,
THIS IS THE BEST SHOP IN O.C. MAYBE LA TOO. IT IS NOW A JAX BICYCLE CENTER. THE NEW MANAGER IS NAMED BRENT AND HAS WORKED IN SHOPS FOR MANY YEARS, WILL IS THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AND IS VERY HELPFUL. THEY ARE THE BETTER MECHANICS THAN ANY SHOP IVE BEEN TO WITH A QUICK TURNAROUND TIME. IF YOU HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AT A JAX STORE THIS ONE HAS A VERY DIFFERENT FEEL. A MUCH BETTER GROUP OF GUYS THAN THE OTHER STORES. SELECTION IS EXCELLENT , PRICING IS EXCELLENT. THESE GUYS ARE ALSO VERY GOOD WITH ROAD BIKES. BRENT SEEMS TO BE VERY GOOD AT WHEELBUILDING IN PARTICULAR. CONSIDER VILLAGE SCHWINN GONE . THIS IS A NEW STAFF THAT IS MUCH BETTER TRAINED. THE OWNER OUT OF THE STORE WAS A GREAT IDEA. HE IS COOL BUT THESE GUYS KNOW BIKES AND SERVICE. RARE INDEED.
MARTY a 33 year old Die-hard Enthusiast, riding a SANTA CRUZ MTN. LEMOND ROAD,
Well, this is my new favorite bike shop. Had a bad experiance at my previous LBS. I noticed their GTs had pretty good prices too. Better deals than JAX had. Monty sold me an Outpost, and was great. He showed much more concern in customer satisfaction than anybody at any other LBS has. He made sure I got the best bike for me, not the bike thats overstocked that they want to get rid of. Overall they have good customer service (pretty much every employee), and good prices on their bikes, which will keep me comming back. -1 for prices on accesories.

This Bike Shop has REALLY BAD SERVICE. You can't even get a straight answer from them. I special ordered a bike from them, and they forgot to order it!!! So, I had to wait longer. And they lied to me 4 times, saying my bike was ready when it wasn't. This bike shop sucks. On a scale from 1-10, I give it a -99. I wish that they would get their act together, and not piss customers off!

The shop is great. They have the best customer service around. They are willing to match any price from the "big mail order stores". The Owner is a great guy who now owns all of the Jax's bikes. They can get the best deals on GT's because they are the largest seller of them. A new guy is managing the store that came from GT and is super knowlegdeable about them. This is a great store to work with where they know you and don't forget you.
OAF a 27 year old Cross-Country Rider, riding a GT LTS 2000, from Yorba Linda
This is a good shop for North OC. Especially if you're looking for a GT. I believe they have some special deal with GT simply because they sell so damn many of them. You can usually get a great deal on closeouts and last year's models. I've always been treated really well and have a great customer/operator relationship with the owner. He sold me a bike when he firt took over the store many years ago and I was treated so well I have bought, or caused to be bought, 8 bikes from them. The above review is right, about the parts thing, but I wouldn't say "village idiot" is an accurate description. I tend to get great service. My only problem is that I don't ride popular gear so getting parts is usually a order thing.

I alternate between calling this place the village schween or the village idiot. They seem to have a very high turnover rate of employees here. There used to be two guys named Rod and Brian that knew something, but they are long gone. Some of the new guys have a clue, but be careful. If you're gonna buy a bike you can barter with these guys, especially with the one and two year old bikes. They haven't got much in the way of parts, so don't count on them having something. Man do they have a lot of GT's, especially older ones.
