Anyone try the Kenda Blue grooves?
I found a place on the web selling them for $50.00 a pair for the 2.5's and I bought them. They are supposed to work well with Stan's and they were the Stick E rubber whatever that is.They look great for the hard pack terrain thats most of So Cal,big low profile knobs.I am going to put them on soon I was just wondering if anyone else has tried them.

I bought one but have not put it on yet. The stick E rubber is cool. If you put it on, please let us know how it goes with Stans.

BTW---this tire is listed at almost 800 grams. I weighed mine and it came in at just under 700.

I tried one with Stan's and it didn't work, and there isn't any way I'm going back to tubes.

Okay, it was worse. The sidewall blew while inflating and I was covered in Stan's spooge. That didn't come out right but you get the idea.

Man, I was stoked to try it.....too bad.

Thas Sucks. The bead blew off the rim, or did the sidewall just break. I noticed that the sidewalls are thin.

Sidewall ripped above the bead. It was something that I hadn't seen before as the rip went from top of the bead towards the tread, instead of slicing across the sidewall. It was truly a case of sidewall failure in the most pure sense.

I really wanted to it to work as the weight and rubber compound was perfect in theory.

Let me know if you have any luck with 'em.

Sounds more like a defective tire worthy of a warranty rather than 'didn't work with Stans.'

Sounds like that could have happened with a tube too.

I'm using them for XC racing. They are working well for socal dry summer loose conditions. Way better than the firexcpro and continentals I had prior. I'm running 2.1 upfront and 1.9 in back. My only complaint is that the stick-e rubber wears kinda quickly.

Just finished putting them on w/Stan's.Dont use the tire tools on your Topeak tool kit use another set,the bead is friggin tight.I broke the tire tools on my Topeak kit,it was like changing the tire on one of my motorcycles. You have to be sure and soap up the bead before you inflate so it seats good. The front went on no problem but the back wouldnt seat so I had to deflate and soap it up.It went on good after I re soaped it.Test ride coming up tomorrow.I am going to take it on my local loop,Los Robles/up Backbone/down Guadalasco. That should give a pretty good impression of how they ride as the Los Robles section in Newbury Park is kind of fast w/off camber hard pack turns and Guadalasco has fast sections w/hard breaking followed by tight turns.

Let us know how they work as I really want them to happen. After my first one, I've been relatively gun shy.

I have been using 2.35 Kenda Blue Grooves on the front of my Joker for about a month now and 2.35 Kenda Nevegals in the rear. No problems with the Blue Grooves which is a good all terrain tire but the Nevegals pinch pop on rocks, wear fast and seem only good on loose sandy or silty soil.

Excellent!2 thumbs up.It was a lot of screwing around to get the Stan's to worh but they hold pressure.I had to keep refilling, take the wheel off, shake it around but I think the ride sealed the deal.I rode my local route described above and no front washout at all,my Trailbear's were a predictable skeecthy but no trace of skeetchyness with the Blue Groove's.I bought them for $50.00 a pair online at Hammerhead bikes so the price was good.Since most of my riding is on hardpack theese are my new fav's.Of course we will have to see how they wear.Id definately recomend them.
Back in the 80's at Saddleback MX park if you wanted to win you needed Metzelers to hook up on the cement like surface.Theese tires are like the old Metzelers.

I have 3 or 4 rides on mine (2.35)... Works good. Stans was pretty easy. Took a couple rides for stans to find and seal all the teeny holes that were slowly leaking. It seems to hold air just fine now.

I put one on the rear, front is a Tioga DH 2.3. The tire hooks up well, really handles well so far on fast fire road descents. I ride it on the Mount Wilson Toll Road, and the tire hooks up real well in the corners, much better than the Pany XC pro 2.10. I am trying it out on lower Merrill climb, Sunset ridge tonight. That should give it a good test. The compound is fairly soft, but I don't know how it will wear yet.

Ditto what arkelly said.I have the 2.5's on my bike and I kept having to fill them with air but they eventually sealed. There seemed to be a lot of tiny holes where the sidewall is bonded to the tread.I have about 10 or so rides on them and I think its the best(front at least)tires I have used on hardpack.I just got back from a 10 day Quetico park canoe trip and plan on doing some heavy riding now.I dont know about the wear yet.I found a place selling them for $50.00 bucks a pair(Hammerhead bikes)so I bought a few pair.
