IF YOU HAVE A RIM THAT IS TOO TWEAKED TO KEEP TRUE, YOU WILL CONTINUALLY HAVE BROKEN SPOKES. REPLACED SPOKES AND TRUING JOB WILL LAST A SHORT TIME. I'VE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH MID TO HIGH-END BONTRAGERS. I DOUBT THAT POUNDING ANY OF THOSE ANT HILLS AT FULLERTON LOOP HURT YOUR RIMS. Posted by TKII a 33 year old Cross-Country riding a SURLY CROSSCHECK from OUT OF NOWHERE on 04/12/04

Re: IGGY POP-RIMS-FULLY LOOP
I had a similar experience with a set of Alex Vectra D2 rims, they had that "different" lacing pattern, not the convential way that most wheels are laced. Anyhow, I had broken 3 rear spokes i believe, one was broken because i hit a rock at an odd angle, and i also broke one "JRA" (just riding along) while climbing the 2nd half of Mach One at El Moro.
I took the rear wheel to my LBS and they relaced the wheel with some SWISS spokes, i believe they were stronger than the stock ones on the wheel. Never broke another spoke.
