 Rear shock advice...
I'm using a BETD aftermarket link on my 2001 Stumpjumper pro along with the stock Fox Float RC that came with the frame originally. I'm looking to "upgrade" the shock to some newer technology. The Fox Float RL Pro Pedal and Manitou Swinger will fit my frame. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these shocks and if they would recommend one over the other? Thanks in advance for your help...

Instead of buying a whole new shock get it upgraded. The cost is much cheaper and the benifets could be astronomical compared to buying something else. Push Industries is the name of the company located in Irvine, California. I'm planning on taking my shock in for service at a mere $165.00 for new and upgraded internals designed specifically for the rider.

They (Push Industries) will upgrade my Fox ? GREAT idea ! I'll look into it, hopefully it will work out. $165.00 vs 350-400 is a no-brainer! Thanks for your advice.

        Hey Jim,

I have a Push upgraded Fox RC - it's better than the Romic I had on the bike before - this would be the best upgrade you could make to your bike - quick turnaround too! (less than a week for me)

          Macrider,
Thanks for the advice. I'm giving them a call today. Now if I could just find a shop to make me climb faster and descend with reckless abandon...LOL

You are welcome, you will feel a huge difference - and there IS such a shop - it's run by a board member who goes by the name El Jefe (aka Human Lawn Dart) - HE could teach you to climb faster and descend with complete abandon! just make sure your life insurance is paid up!

            - Bakersfield huh? do you ride "Just Outstanding" often?

HLD could also teach him how to:

              ~Stack on concrete steps.
              ~Stack on dirt hills.
              ~Fall going uphill.
~Getting lost from the group on a fireroad.
              ~Pounding Guinness.
~Icing your balls while in public.
~Being a nurse and holding your head up high!

              To name a few.

I'd say that I'm going to huck off your face, but telling people I'm only doing a 3ft drop isn't really that threatening.

              Macrider,
Sorry so late with a reply, but YES, we ride Just Outstanding as often as possible. Lately we've been using a GPS unit to develop some "new" loops. We've "found" some trails that not a lot of locals ride from here...if you're ever in the area, let me know, I'd be glad to "guide" a ride (or simply try to keep up with all the infamous SOCALMTB ELITE LOL)

Hey Jim, starting in another month or so, I'll be spending a lot of weekends in Kernville kayaking - as soon as the snow is low enough you'll have to show me some local stuff....I keep looking at the area where Just Outstanding is and thinking "wow, you could build some serious North Shore stuff up here...."

                  Macrider,
The possibilities there are almost endless, I agree. Though my Northshore capabilities and desires lean to hucks off the curb in my front yard (lol)! There are many different off shoots from Just Outstanding (we "discovered" 3 different routes last summer), as technically challenging as you want to get. The possibilities there are endless!! AND it's only 45 mins away from my house. SHHHH, don't tell anybody this is Bakersfield...

                    -I want pretty darn challenging!

I can hardly wait for spring in the Sierras!

I'll have to email you come late March-April so we can hit the trails....

I look forward to riding. Actually right now, the Kern Canyon Trail is in perfect condition. E mail me when you're in the area, I'm free usually Sat,Sun and Mon as well as Wed...do you know if you or any one else is planning on attending Keyesville this year? We're thinking of putting together a group ride on the Wednesday before the race for those who are interested...3-4 hours, all singletrack, etc

                      Jim

I always seem to have a ride weekend somewhere out of town on the dates of Keyesville - but we'll see how it plays out this year

could I get your email address for later this spring? (April is probably the soonest I'll head up to kayak & I always bring the bike(s))
