 Best Post Ride Brew
So following the advice from a friend, I need to ride harder, really flog. Today I did that and hammered up Westridge as hard as I could, it felt good. So i'm home now and I noticed that I had one Firestone Double Barrell Ale left over from last nite. As i popped the top with a modified chainring, chain bottle opener I pondered.......what is my favorite post ride brew.

This Firestone has got to be up there. But i got to put an ice cold Tecate in the category too.

My last Firestone is now a goner, got to hit the store....

I agree, Firestone beer is a staple in my diet

    Cut and paste time:

"Faced with a shortage of grapes, one California vintner tried the next best thing. He made beer. Adam Firestone thought of the unique solution after the crop for the 1995 vintage in California’s South Central coast was 50 to 80 percent smaller than expected. The Firestone Vineyard president and his brother-in-law, David Walker, had been toying with the idea of starting a microbrewery, and some empty Chardonnay barrels seemed like a good place to start. Unfortunately, too much oxidation and contamination from the used barrels occurred during the duo’s first efforts at barrel fermented beer….They then (tried) using an old British brewing method called the Union system, which is rarely employed today. By connecting a series of new, cleaner American oak barrels together in a closed system, Firestone and Walker were able to successfully make Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale."

    Firestone

Firestone also brews beer for a few other labels, Humboldts Red Nectar for one.

Tried Firestone Double Barrell recently, thought is was excellent. If you are near Solvang there is a Firestone Brewery and reastaurant worth checking out. Foods good and the beer is great.

In the interests of keeping this thread (and site) alive, and not havning any bike-relevant content to post today, I submit the following:

Anderson Valley High Rollers Wheat Beer

IMHO, this is THE California brew...nothing better have I tasted in this fair state! Nothing!!!

You should come up to the Boonville Beer Festival in May. I have been the last 3 years since living up here, last year there was 30+ breweries representing, including Stone. Anderson Valley hosts it, and the event is like a mile from the brewery. They do make great beer. My favorite of theirs is the Hop Ottin IPA. Good stuff.
