 Okay to buy?
I'm thinking of buying my friend's bike ( just getting my feet wet now) and he said I should post here and make sure it won't be too tall for me ( I don't have it yet!)...

I'm 5'10" , he's 6'3" He said to mention it is a 61" specialized Allez

Thats probably going to be to big. I would say somehting like a 57 or 58 would be about right.

I think that would be way too big. I am 5' 10.5", and I ride a 54cm road frame. Now, I have proportionally long legs, and a short torso. So my 54 is a bit smaller than most riders of our height would ride, because I need the shorter top tube to match my torso. I think a 56cm is about the average size for someone 5'10".

You should have 1-2 inches of standover clearance from the top tube. Stand over the frame, and pull it up tight to your crotch, and the wheels should be an inch or two off the ground. That is the starting point for fit, but the length of the top tube is really the more important fit measurement. But, it takes a bit of experimenting, and maybe owning a couple different bikes over a couple years to really figure out what top tube length is best for you.

Anyway, at your height, I would be looking for around a 56cm frame. Test ride some, and some other sizes close to it, and see how they feel.

I think it is too big for you. I am 6'3" with a 33"inseam and i am riding a Spec. 59.
I would look into something a little smaller or get fitted at your LBS and know exactly what size you need.
