 adult sized training wheels
My son is 17 and weighs 180 lbs. Due to a handicap he can't balance a bike and needs training wheels. Obviously child sized training wheels are not heavy or big enough. I realize 3 wheeled bikes are available but he would prefer a two wheeler that looks like everyone elses. Does any one know of a company that makes adult sized training wheels?

    I could only give you some advice.Traning wheels are real hard to turn. You could build a sidecar for a regular bike. But I think going With 3-wheels would be much better. You can trick (CUSTOM) the bike out and make it realy fun for your son. And maybe everyone will want a ride :)

    I am so glad that there is someone else out there who has a problem finding training wheels for an adult bicycle.

    I am 40, and due to neurosurgery, have lost my balance and cooridination. I feel that I am much too young for a 3-wheeled bike, and even if I had to go that way, I am on a fixed income and cannot afford it.

    I have tried to ride my 26" bike but I'm all over the sidewalk and/or street. I have hurt myself each time I try to go out. I feel that this would be an excellent way for me to get the exercise I so desperately need.

    Please, if someone is out there that can help me and this other person, we really would appreciate it!!!

    I just found that site and they have some interesting
    products. I have a child with PWS who has outgrown
    her training wheels and I think fatwheels may be the

    I haven't been able to ride a bike since I was eight. I was born with a form of muscular dystrophy and ended up not walking and having no balance. Anyway, I now walk because of yoga and weight-training, but I was having the same dilemma as your son--my balance was not great. I am 34 and was looking for adult training wheels, but a bike store came up with another option: a "folding bike". Folding bikes are adult bikes with 20-inch wheels and a lower frame, so your centre of gravity is lower too. They are very popular in Europe. I have been riding it without much problem, and it's almost impossible to fall on it. If you lose your balance, you just put your feet on the ground! I'd definitely recommend this type of bike--there are many stores that carry it--just search for "folding bike" (in quotes) on the Web to see pictures of it. They are not cheap, but well worth it, and they don't look that much different from a regular bike (they're more the size of a stunt bike).     I saw this in an ad and remembered this discussion. This company offers wheels specifically for "physically challenged" bike riders. They can be contacted at 1-800-225-2453. Hope it helps.

    I TOO HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR ADULT TRAINING WHEELS FOR MY 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO ALSO IS HANDICAPPED AND HAS POOR BALANCE.MY HUSBAND IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO WELD AN EXTRA PIECE ONTO THE HEAVY DUTY TRAINING WHEELS SO THAT IT WILL FIT THE BIGGER BIKES. I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF IT WORKS.IN THE MEANTIME LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANYTHING.

    I have invented Adult Training and Stabilizing Wheels that will fit ANY size adult bicycle. Very easy to install.

      NEVER NEVER NEVER deal with this guy (Bwieland) !!!!

      I sent money for the wheels, he cashed the check, but I never received them. After 4 months I called the Peel police. They went around to his house to get a refund, they had to force him to write a refund check. However the check he me sent bounced! I am still trying to get my money back!

      This gut is BAD business... BEWARE !!!

        I also dealt with this (Bwieland) guy. A 12 year old could do better work than this guy. The coated strap is plumbers/exhaust strapind wrapped in colored duct tape. I had to flood his inbox every day to get my money back , over 6 months. I have photos of his "invention" if anyone would like to see
