I saw Dirt Crab and her 3 friends on the trail today.....they drive too fast on I-8, too. They didn't even say hi. Posted by GhostRider a 31 year old Downhiller on 09/28/08

How is the recovery of the park coming along? Cuyamaca was absolutely one of my favorite places to ride before that idiot burned it down. Posted by Old gringo a 56 year old Cross-Country Rider riding a Ellsworth Truth from Chatsworth on 10/01/08

Re: Cuyamaca 9-28-2008
It is far from being the wooded forest jewel it once was. There are pieces here and there where you almost can't tell the difference, but they r few and far between. I've hiked and biked just about every inch of that place since 1993 - it is still a different place. It was such a great place for much needed shade on those long, summer rides - especially going up Middle and Cuyamaca Peaks. They are flattening/widening much of the fireroads...I assume done for f/f & f/p purposes. Spring will bring about the bounty of green and flowers...reminiscent of days of yore....always better riding through that prism. Saw some huge wild turkeys....they are not too shy of humans anymore. A couple of volunteers on horseback told me that Black Oak trail is littered with fallen trees...so big it will take a cutting crew a full day to clear. They didn't mention when that will be done. That's a fun ST, but I'd recommend not adding Black Oak Trail to a ride just yet...unless you are packing a chainsaw or two! I'm going back this Saturday to do a slightly different route.
