Avoid Moab Cyclery
On Aug. 11, 2007 I rented a mountain bike from Moab Cyclery. I drove about 20 mi. to the Klondike Trail Head. I then rode about 4 mi. up the mountain and the rear tire started to lock up. I then discovered that the swing arm bolt was about to fall out and the nut was missing. The nut was nowhere to be found. This rendered the bike unrideable.

Upon returning to Moab, I explained the situation to the clerk and then to the mechanics. No apology or refund was offered. When I asked for compensation, I was told no because bolts falling off a bike is 'normal wear an tear'! I have filed a complaint with the BBB, but no offer of a refund yet.

AVOID this shop. There are plenty of choices in Moab.

I had a terrible experience with Moab Cyclery (almost possitive) as well! It may have been another Moab bike shop.

My buddy rented a bike from them, we rode porcupine rim trail. With 5 miles left and the sun beating down over 100, the tire went flat. We changed it, only to have it go flat again! After the third tube change, we were out of tubes and had to walk out of that hot dessert. I sucked big time. When we get to the bike shop they determind that the spoke had come loose and was poking through.
Here's the kicker. They tried to charge us for thier bike they didn't maintain! We were expecting compensatin and these guys tried to charge us!
These guys are dicks and don't know anything about running a business!

We stayed and argued and made a scene until they let us go with no extra charge.

I paid UPS and shipped my bike to Poisoned Spider Bike Shop. Those guys a genuine. Which is my suggestion to anyone making the trip. Take your own ride if possible.
