 Jackpot!
Who'd a thought, that you could hit a Vegas style Jackpot on an MTB ride, but it happened. The girlfriend and I finished a long loop one afternoon after work, out in Bouquet Canyon. It was late in the day and climbing up the paved hill back to the car. We were just about there, when I rounded the last curve with the sun at my back. Lo and behold, there was glinting silver spots all over the road. What the...? It was money. I pedaled another ten yards and saw quarters, dimes and nickels everywhere. I pulled off the road and the side was littered with change.

My girlfriend pulled up, wondering what I was doing wandering around the side of the road and she realized the same thing. We started picking up massive amounts of change. Alongside the change was small debris. A broken CD, a chapstick, a childs toy. Suddenly, I saw a broken headlight bucket and a rubbery piece off've a car. Apparently, some yahoo was going way too fast through the canyon and rolled the car multiple times, spewing it's contents over a wide area. The towtruck got most of the big stuff and you could see a patch of oil in the road where the car came to rest before being towed away. We ended up picking up over $90 in silver off've the road and the adjoining dirt on either side. My jersey pockets bulged heavily and I had to unload the pockets twice. It was somehow sad too, but I wasn't going to leave it there either. A strange ending to what would've been an uneventful ride.

Cool...almost enough for dinner and a movie. :)

A long time ago, my buddy flipped his baja bug on the way home from El Mirage. He had a huge toolbox in the back seat, and the incident left a s#!+load of tools strewn all over the 14 Fwy.
